This recipe makes about 40 single hosts so you will have 20 filled hosts
Ingredients for the hosts
1 liter of water
500 grams of flour
1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil
pinch of salt
instructions
place the flour in an salad bowl, add salt and oil, then gently pour the water, always stirring with a wooden spoon, until you get a fairly liquid paste without lumps, which will be used to prepare the wafers.
place the iron on the stove top burner and when very hot, pour a large spoonful of liquid
close the iron and let it rest on the burner for a few minutes on each side
detach the host from the iron and keep aside between sheets of absorbent paper, under a weight so as not to lose its shape
ingredients for the stuffing
750 grams of honey
500 gr of dark chocolate (75%)
500 gr of chopped almonds
700 gr of chopped walnuts
there are many variations for the stuffing
some add sugar for extra sweetness, but we find that the honey with the 75% dark chocolate is sweet enough
instructions
melt the honey in a double boiler, when it is a nice amber color, add the chopped dark chocolate and mix well
boil the mixture for a few minutes
add the chopped almonds and walnuts
mix well with a wooden spoon and cook for ten minutes
remove from the bain-marie
spread the filling on a host and cover it with another
pile about four of five on top of each other and place a plate (for weight) on top. After they cool down, store them in a tupperware wrapped in saran wrap or parchment paper
